Date and Overview

Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) is an annual GLOBAL observance held on March 31, to celebrate the achievements, resilience & contributions of Transgender & Gender Diverse people while raising awareness about the discrimination and challenges they face.

Founded in 2009, by Transgender activist Rachel Crandall, TDOV was created to provide a POSITIVE focus on living transgender individuals and is a complement to the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which honors the victims of Anti-Trans Violence

Significance

TDOV emphasizes visibility as a tool for social change, affirming the dignity, identity and the accomplishments of Trans People. It Encourages Allies and Communities to support Equality, challenge Prejudice, and promote inclusive policies in workplaces, schools and public life. Visibility is particularly important in combating misinformation, reducing stigma, and fostering understanding across society

Ways to Celebrate

Individuals and organizations can observe TDOV through multiple actions:
